The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says it has approved the appointment of Sherifat Adegbenro as the acting chief executive officer (CEO) of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) Plc.
In a statement on Monday, the regulator said the appointment is intended to ensure leadership continuity pending the DisCo’s selection of a substantive CEO.
“The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has formally approved the appointment of Ms. Sherifat Adegbenro as the acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution PLC (EKEDP),” the statement reads.
“Aligned with the Code of Corporate Governance for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, this appointment ensures leadership continuity pending the DisCo’s appointment of a substantive CEO.”
Before her appointment, Adegbenro served as the company’s deputy CEO, following her promotion from chief audit and compliance officer.
Adegbenro will replace Wola Joseph-Condotti, who has served as interim chief executive officer (CEO) of the firm since January.
On December 30, 2025, Transgrid Enerco Limited, a Nigerian consortium, completed its acquisition of a 60 percent major stake in EKEDC for N360 billion.
The consortium comprises North-South Power (NSP), owners of Shiroro Dam; Stanbic Infrastructure Fund, and Axxela, an oil and gas company.
